Turnaround Receives Continued Funding from Institute of Education Sciences (IES)
We are pleased to announce confirmation of continued funding from the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the research arm of the U.S. Department of Education, to explore and improve the design of Turnaround’s intervention in a more systematic and data-driven manner. Now in its second year of a three-year grant, IES’ $1.3 million investment allows Turnaround staff to collect in-depth student, classroom and school-level data from schools in high-need communities and provides participating schools with an exciting opportunity to understand the progress each school is making. In September 2011, Turnaround will begin working in a new group of schools to examine the implementation and impact of our newest model for Intervention (“Turnaround 2.0”), from each school’s initial participation through the end of two years’ intervention. As a result of this award, Turnaround looks forward to developing a more informed understanding of how our intervention creates meaningful change in schools and to continuing to enrich the general conversation on education reform locally and nationally.
