Loly Peguero

Grants Staff Accountant

Loly joined Turnaround for Children in 2014 as General Staff Accountant. She is responsible for the allocation of expenses for all Turnaround grants, including state, federal, foundation and private grants. She also processes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll.

Prior to joining Turnaround, Loly worked for The Fortune Society, a nonprofit organization that supports successful reentry from prison and promotes alternatives to incarceration. As a Contract Manager, she worked closely with the Associate Vice President of Finance to develop contract management processes, which led to better systems around vouchering, budget modifications and internal variance report meetings. Loly has also worked for Cable Positive, where she oversaw benefit administration, and Gay Men’s Health Crisis, where she managed over 60 federal, state, city and private grants.

Loly holds a B.S. in accounting from Lehman College.

Who is your hero?

My mother, because of her unconditional love and dedication to all of her six children. She brought us to this country of opportunity and she always has been by our side every time we need her.

What motivates you?

My two children, Zavier and Johniel, because they are the ones who keep me going. They are the motor that gives me energy and strength to wake up every day and go to work.
