Turnaround for Children translates neuroscientific research into practices designed to help schools with students facing adversity. Over the past 15 years, we have grown from an idea into an organization with a $15.2 million budget and over 60 employees.

Currently, we partner with schools in New York City, Newark, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., serving over 5,000 students and nearly 600 teachers and staff. Our central office is located in midtown Manhattan with staff in schools and districts across New York City, Newark, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.

  • This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced human resource professional to help strengthen the employee lifecycle with a focus on talent acquisition and onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and staff development. The Senior Manager, Talent will develop and execute people initiatives, support policy and process improvements and provide critical support to employees and managers across our offices in New York and Washington DC and for a handful of remote employees. A critical component of this role is working to embed the organization’s core values into all of the employee lifecycle, thereby supporting a culture of high performance and creating an inclusive workplace that honors diverse perspectives. This role reports into the Vice President, People and Engagement, and is part of a 3-person team dedicated to improving the employee experience and overall organizational culture.

  • The Vice President, Development will lead the Development team, which is responsible for raising the private philanthropic and competitive public revenue to meet the organization’s short-term and long-term needs through building and managing relationships with foundations, corporations, individuals and public agencies. The Vice President of Development will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and Development team to develop an innovative fundraising strategy, pitch to donors, and effectively close multi-year, multi-million-dollar gifts primarily from individuals and institutions.

  • The Organizational Learning and Impact (OLI) team is a multidisciplinary team drawing on developmental science, research, data, and continuous learning and improvement principles to support the organization's mission of translating science into tools and strategies that accelerate healthy development and academic achievement. The Vice President, Organizational Learning and Impact will serve as the leader of the OLI team and a key member of Turnaround's leadership team, developing and guiding strategies that leverage data and science to fuel ongoing improvement for Turnaround's programs. Reporting to Turnaround's Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President will manage and mentor a team of five.
