Turnaround Names Simone Levinson as Vice Chair of Board of Directors
A Philanthropist and Education Activist, Levinson Will Focus on Board Development and Strategic Partnerships
(New York) – Turnaround for Children, a nonprofit organization committed to transforming some of the country’s highest poverty, lowest performing schools, announces officially that Simone M. Levinson has been named Vice Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors. Ms. Levinson is a leading New York City philanthropist and education activist, and was recently appointed by Governor Cuomo to New York State’s Spending and Government Efficiency Commission. A Turnaround board member since 2008, Ms. Levinson has been instrumental in helping the organization build strategic partnerships and triple its budget. In her new role as vice chair, she will focus on board development and continue to help raise Turnaround’s profile in the philanthropic and education reform communities.
“Simone has been a tireless champion of Turnaround for Children and instrumental in the organization’s growth over the past several years,” said Turnaround for Children Founder and CEO Dr. Pamela Cantor. “By expanding her role on the board, Simone will have a big hand in expanding Turnaround nationally and providing more children with access to great schools and great teachers.”
“Turnaround for Children is an inspiration to anyone committed to improving public education and changing children’s lives, and I’m so excited to expand my role in driving the organization’s growth and efforts for years to come,” said Ms. Levinson.
